I often come back to Medusa when I don't know what else to draw. Don't know why it's a favorite image of mine. Maybe it has to do with my love for Clash of the Titans oh-so-many years ago. Although in that film, she was cursed to be grotesque. She was more of a predator who hunted down those that entered her temple of shadows. Maybe Harryhausen's interpretation of Medusa is decades after the initial curse. Old, angry, completely removed from humanity. A monster.
I always thought of her as more of an unfortunate character. Sad, beautiful and unable to relate to anyone without seeing them and turning them to stone. Lonely. Maybe these are the younger years. The sadness preceding the rage.
