The Wookie Storybook

Okay. So my sister, brother-in-law, and family bought me this great new Star Wars pop up book for Xmas. It was definitely a surprise and a most thoughtful gift. When I was a kid (not to say that I was ever in any way a goat), I loved the Star Wars pop up books which accompanied the release of the movies. I would look at the illustrations and pull the pop up tabs until I had essentially ruined them. Then I would just use them as staging grounds for my obsession with cut-outs-- but that's another story.

This gift got me a bit nostalgic. So I went through a few things I have which are SW related. As I no longer have any of those original pop-up books, I thought I'd share this silly gem with you. Star Wars: The Wookie Storybook. Apparently, it was released in conjunction with another book. Both books were supposedly created to extend the life of the additional characters created for the Star Wars Christmas special. And if you haven't seen that, you should. Or at least fast forward through the acrobat scenes to get to the Bea Arthur sequences.

Those of you born pre-1980 should at least get a kick out of this book. The illustrations are pretty fun too--
especially the treatment of fur and bark.

So without further ado, I present The Wookie Storybook.

I really love this War and Peace-like directory of characters and nicknames.
